Since the weather was exceptionally warm today, I decided to hunt an old sport field that I been planning to visit for sometime.
At first things were slow pickings. Only found a few clad coins with that only one nickel in the first couple of hours or so. Rather than leave, I decided to hit it some more.
I started working more of the fringe perimeter areas and then things started to pickup. But not too many nickels. So, I changed my settings, by going full throttle on sensitivity, cranking up the discrimination and pushing the ground balance a bit more into the positive range settings. Things now started to pick up speed....a few more deep dimes and plenty more nickels came to light.
In between all this action, I cleared out three zincs within a foot radius and then got a strong hit on a large silver ring. Moving along, about two hours later, I got a strong hit sound, but this time it was a thin 14k gold chain with a small 14k gold cross, a 12k gold oval pendent and a 14k gold "Daddy's Girl" charm. When I went in for the kill onto the gold with my heavy artillery Lesche shovel, I cut the gold chain into pieces.
Oh, and a couple of Wheaties too, to add to the mix. Too tired to check out the dates.
This sure made my eight hour day of hunting worthwhile.
Summary for the day:
-Gold 3.37 grams
-Silver 7.86 grams
-139 coins:
35-.25s
27-.10s
16-.05s
61-.01s
