The red book say $17 for the condition it's in but it damaged so do you think
$15 would be a fair price

Unfortunately damaged and since they are abundant in a lot better condition, IMHO, I would say it is worth scrap silver.

It isn't a rare one. BUT, I am NO EXPERT. I have just sold a lot of coins.

Contrary to what book value states, it's only worth what someone's willing to pay for it. Of course you have the option to decline or accept their offer.
Nice coin though

Like Scuba mentioned, that is a common silver half. At today's silver price ($16), it's worth $5.79

My LCS would tack on a 25% premium. I suppose eBay would get you the best price if you are selling.

Because it's damaged and a common date probably not worth too much more than melt. You could list it on ebay for melt and see where it goes.

I don't sell any of my old coins.
I might if there is a big silver spike like back in the 70's :?:
other than that I just a soon keep them in a collection.

I agree, the memory, the excitedment, the awesome find, holding the coin and thinking about the history of it's lifetime... priceless!:D

I've never found one, so I'm jelly!

Am going to keep it no mater what it was my first silver my uncle says it's worth 10$
