Well this may be my first best find of 2021. I found this Theodore Roosevelt fob today while metal detecting at an old river ford on southwest Virginia. It is dated June 18th 1910 and has a makers mark of The Greenduck Co. Chicago on both sides. It is heavy and about the size of a Morgan Silver Dollar. I've looked everywhere on the internet and have not been able to find another one like it so it's value and rareness is a mystery. I found it about 8 inches deep and it rang up as an 80 on my Garrett Max.

That is a great find. Anything related to a president is awesome in my book.

That is an AWESOME find. I wish I could find anything more about it on the internet, but I'm turning up blanks.

Gimme the Loot I never thought about that. Yes I did find it on inauguration day. I guess that makes it even more special.

OLLIEVON asked where I found it at the ford. I found it at the water edge where they entered/exited the ford. The ford dates all the way back to the early 1800's.

JIMTHER the link you gave to a picture does look like it on the front but seems to look smaller.

I'm still researching the internet and have found no reference to it but I did find a historical account link of Theodore's return to the United States on June 18th 1910 in New York. Fascinating reading.

Also found some information on the GREENDUCK COMPANY in Chicago that made the fob.

So cool. Good information. The research after the finds makes it fun on the relics. Sometimes they turn out to be better than a nice coin.
