Best day of the year, might be the last for season!
Need help with this gold button ID, may post separately if I can’t ID it.
I haven’t done any cleaning, don’t want to ruin it but the gold seems in tact under a thin crusted dirt layer.
Any feedback or advice on the button would be a big help!
Permission in Dutchess county, NY , 1700s house.

1875 seated dime
Gold plated button
1830 religious pendant
Buffalo nickel
1906 Indian cent

Though I cannot find the exact button, I do believe the button is a state Civil War button. It resembles Maryland, but is not the same.

Thank you for the information! I saw what appeared to be a Native American on the right side and wasn’t sure what it could be. I will continue searching

1830 is on the medallion because it’s relevant to the image...it’s not indicative of the date it was made...nice digs...seated coins are scarce...

Thanks, it’s the first 1800s silver I’ve dug to date. One check off the bucket list!... Judging by the rest of the items in the area and the depth, I’d imagine the medallion is somewhat dated, though I can’t find a similar round variation on the internet searching to compare. Thanks for the info.

Yes, it's a modern medallion. The "1830" is just commemorating the date of some apparition or miracle or anniversary, or something like that.

It looks like the button might be an old NYPD button. It appears to be the New York City seal. I just have to figure out the date. The double curved bow was inaccurate and may be a good clue to help date it I am still searching. Any feedback is appreciated!

Edit: based on the timeline of variations in the seal of NYC, this version appears to be 1907-1915 based on the missing cross-staff and the eagle facing the Native American...

Anyone familiar with this version of the seal or the button please comment. Thanks!

“M”, cross, stars, two hearts = Miraculous medal/pendant.

The Miraculous Medal (French: Médaille miraculeuse), also known as the Medal of Our Lady of Grace, is a devotional medal, the design of which was originated by Saint Catherine Labouré following her apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary[2] in Rue du Bac, Paris, France.

I see the medallion is not from 1830, but due to the depth and location, I doubt it is from the last 50 years. I can’t find one of the same circular design online to get a date. I am not sure when they started producing these. Thanks for the feedback. It has since cleaned up nicely and at least it appears to be silver.

I have dug several religious pendants and a few with that date on it. If it is silver it will say sterling on it. If not it is not silver. I swore some of mine were silver that did not have a mark but they weren't.
