there are a few lakes in my area that people fish almost all year around if the weather permits.I was wondering has anyone ever metal detected on lake banks , or river banks.
if so what would be the best approach

Find a spot where people may have sunbathed or went swimming, you can find old coins and jewelry. Ask around.Maybe theres an old swimming hole around. Youll probably find alot of sinkers so be patient. I like to hunt riverbanks, some old coins appear here and there.

They are great spots to hit!!

LOOK FOR HEAVY USE AREAS. WADE FROM SHORE OUT AS FAR AS POSSABLE.ALSO THE BANKS WERE PEOPLE SIT.THERE WILL LOTS OF TRASH BUT THERES MOST LIKELY LOOT IN THAT TRASH!!

I'd start with the areas that look as if they have been worn down due to excess travel, such as beaches, paths.....
