I have only been metal detecting for 9 month's now. I like to use Google earth to gather a route and to see a good path to place's I have researched. I can gather alot of information by looking at a aerial picture of the site. Just my thought's. Any other suggestion's are welcome. HH Rhubarb

I agree. Google earth is fantastic. Have you put a topo map overlay on it yet?
I downloaded an old topo as an image, insterted it, lined it up and wow!
Set the transperancy on the layer so it is semi transperant.
 
I up-graded to earth plus yesterday. And hooked my GPS into it. It downloaded all my points and put it on the map. Very nice. Here is what Iraq looks like. I spent a year right here.
But you should see my hunt site patterns! :shock:
