How much of your detecting will be on beaches??
where do you live?? if your gonna do some heavy beach hunting get a water proof beach/water detector..if your gonna hunt wet sand/water go with a PI PRO..With a little time you'll figure out the good from bad targets..any vlf detector will be fine for dry sand grab a ace 250 for that! good luck
