I found this book clasp in March and I wanted to have it entered on the PAS (Portable Antiquities Scheme) data base, and a full ID on the item.

Report here:

Cool report. They write that up for free or do you have to pay to get that done?

Thank you.

The PAS service is for free and comes under the local museum service.

Although the museum service is funded by local tax and income tax.

Very cool indeed. I admit, I had to look up "zoomorphic"

Thank you.

Zoomorphic is is widely used to describe that an item is animal like in appearance.

To my eyes the book clasp looks more like a human face!

Wow that is REALLY Cool Doug !!

Nice that you have a Resource to look all of that up !!!

Thank you.

The PAS data base (Potable Antiquities Scheme) which is free to use holds around 1.3 million records so it is possible to narrow down an ID without professional help.
