I was wandering around our farm in Varina Va. looking for a couple of spots to hang my trail cams. I went to a spot on the side of the property that we never hunt and I found some civil war trenches. I had my machine in the truck but not much time. Here are some of the things I found. I dug about 20 percussion caps, two minnie balls on shot and one dropped, two small round balls ( not sure about them) and some unidentified lead and brass.

Thats Awesome! Varina is like one big trench. I've got permission to a few trench lines around that area. Happy hunting.

Yeah, Im pretty lucky. My sister married a guy whose father is a big land developer. The property has two known camps on it, both with trenches. This new one I found is just one long trench on top of a ridge.
