Ink well

Curb strip hunting alongside of a 150 year old house. Got an interesting signal and out came this Carter’s Inkwell.

A rusty nail was nestled beneath it.

That's a nice ink for sure! If I had to guess, possibly made around 1900, maybe a little later. Just a guesstimate! Love ink wells, nice dig!
 
That's a real treasure! How smart that you dug that odd sounding nail! That is really nice I just love that. Those old lines and texture just add to the interest. Congratulations on digging that neat old ink well.
