I found my first piece of jewelry!

I was poking around the old trees in my front yard and found this (brass?) horse pin.
The actual pin was on it, but snapped off as soon as I picked it up and I couldn't find it again :(

So, any thoughts about this piece?

What an awesome piece! All I found in my yard was toy cars from my son when he was younger :)
 
Doesn't look brass from the photo. Tho' looks like it had plating on it at one time. Cool find either way. Congrats on your first jewelry dig. Many more to come your way I am sure. Now you just need a cool display case to show off your finds.

I agree, not brass. However, doesn't look corroded like you would see if it were a cheap charm or something like that. How "heavy" is it? Not in actual weight, but compared to it's size? If I had to guess I would guess lead but I'm really not sure.
 
Congrats. It's a keeper for your collection! Seriously! You never know what story that jewelry could tell. A great Relic find! Nice!
