Besxt way to salvage matchbox cars

Soak them and use your thumb on the hose to get a pressurized stream. That'll get in the cracks and into the cabin area.

I use a waterpik to get the dirt out in the nook and crannies. Unfortunately, they still look like the dickens from all the decay. But at least it's "clean" decay! Curt

DirtAngler,

Once again I have to remind you guys of the best way to get these things clean.

Ask for the "By Hand" detail service.
It costs a little extra, but I hear they do a very nice job!

Ok, fine!
Real answer... soak in a bucket of water with a some soap for awhile to loosen everything up.

Cleaning finds idea

I have found that the dishwasher does a great job of cleaning matchbox cars and any dirt covered finds. I put them in the silverware holder.

I normally just leave the ones I find soak in water for a bit then run them a time or 2 through the ultrasonic cleaner. Works pretty well for me.

Here is one that i found that i just hit with water and a boiling hydrogen peroxide bath..the wheels still spin and original paint is still there!
