Well finally got it just about finished. Need to put a port in for the headphones, but I can hear pretty good the way it is... Made the straight shaft out of some scrap I had around. 5pin extension from ebay, & cam lock. Waterproof box from a forum member. Going to take the harness from my 10x42 binos & use in place of the strap. (Just be more comfy)Might look for the 5x8 coil in the future & then tape the coil wire all the way up the shaft.

Thanks for looking.

It's been a pretty good detector already, that's why I can't let her go. Just didn't need to land machines. Should work great at the swimming holes.

Yuppers, that is a great way to water hunt with a otherwise land-use-only machine. Thanks for sharing!

Nice job, and good idea. You might want to run the coil wire up through the shaft and eliminate the tape.

The way to do it is by removing the connector at the end of the coil wire,
threading it up through the hole, up the shaft, and out the hole at the top.
Then resolder the connector to the cable.

Of course, make sure you jot down what wires go where before desoldering.
I usually take a pic before doing any work like that.
