I've been trying to find out if I could metal detect here, but no one in the city will answer my emails. I read the Pittsburgh Parks Rules and Regs and didn't find anything about metal detecting or digging (at least i don't remember one. lol). There used to be a civil war prison on the site before they turned it into a park back in like the 1880's or something. The park is flat and grassy with old trees spread through out. I think it would be an awesome spot. If i ever get the OK to hunt it I'll let you know.

The politicians won't answer most likely because they don't want you there even though it's not illegal. If there is nothing in the regs and no signs posted, I would hunt during low use hours.

Put on a orange vest and go for it. Better to ask forgiveness than permission

I'd call and talk to them directly that way you get a definite answer, its the parks deptments job to know the rules and regulations and if they dont give you an answer and theres nothing in any of the written regulations I wouldnt be afraid to do it
I'd probably get the time, date and name of the person at the parks department that gives you an answer just so you have a document if you do get harrassed
