Is it worth it?

I was given Whites coinmaster 4000 D series 3. It is missing cover over the meter and probably needs some work. Whites emailed me and told me $45 service fee plus parts to fix it. Is it worth it to have as back up detector or as one for my son.

I think so, I have one, my son uses it, can they do a cost estimate ?

Go for it

Ive used a 5500d series 3 for for 25 years or so. Ya I would refurbish it especially for a youngster. $45 plus parts aint bad. 4000 was a good detector. Just not a lot of bells and whistles. But they had good depth and did their job. an ole friend used one. And he did quite well.

$45 doesn't sound too bad to have it repaired.

Your dealing with quality which is hard to find these days,I say go for it but keep in mind with Radioshack and lots of items on the internet You might be able to repair this yourself for a fraction of the cost Whites charges.
