Livestock relics I think

Do you see how this wire has a flat pointy tab on it. I think that it was some type of apparatus that poked livestock and kept them from sticking their heads into places they don't belong. But I'm not sure. The other relic looks like something from a scale but again I'm not sure. Thanks for looking and taking a shot at it.

Second item is a folding hoof pick, and can still be bought new. You can even buy 'em on Amazon.

Not sure about the first item, but the end of it is clearly broken off, so I don't know how it can be identified.
