Got some sterling today

Took the G2+ out on my lunch break,dug a few clad ,then got a 90s signal and out popped this cool sterling stamped pin.Not sure what it is,looks like a hot air balloon maybe? But it’s heavy for a pin.

Love them things. Still on my list tho I did find captains bars. That's a parachute
 
It's an 81st Airborn pin. Nice find!

Thanks for the info,I just looked it up on eBay and sure enough there’s 2 of them identical to mine,and the bids are over 50 bucks so far and still going on both.Wow,I really thought it was some weather balloon people wore it as a like a club thing.Thats Cool it’s from ww2 and a 81st airborne pin.It still has a fully functioning pin on the back in great shape too.
I saw some replicas for sale but they weren’t silver,seeming these are stamped sterling is it safe to assume they are the real deal? The pin in the back has a rolling lock that works surprisingly,
