Took the kids to the creek today. Turning stones and looking for fossil's and Arrowheads. Found some shell fossil and what I hope and think is petrified wood. Your thoughts please and thank you

I'm thinking that is a sedimentary type rock formation more associated with the fossils ya'll found and not petrified wood.? Those fossils are cool and definitely have some age!

The shells look like brachiopods, and the other thing looks like a coral of some sort. As far as I know, brachiopods were relatively deep water creatures, and not likely to be found with wood.

Nice fossils, though.

If you're talking about the tubular formation on the rock, it certainly looks to me like it could have been a petrified aquatic plant. Nice finds!
