Possible button in North GA?

I was relic hunting in the woods behind our home, located north of Dalton, GA (many civil war battles/skirmishes fought in this area). I found this item about 3” deep in the soil beneath a rock pile. My initial thought was a decorative top cap of a button but I’m not certain. Appears to be made of tin. Any ideas?

I'd say it's the front half of a two piece button. With it missing the back half and so shallow it might have been a iron backed one. Leaning towards decorative.
