It's been quite a few years now since I sold my Surf PI Pro and at least 2 years since I last looked at detectors. Since then, Minelab has released the Equinox.

My question is, how well does the Equinox 800 handle black sand and heavy salt beaches? I'll be hunting the Carolina beaches should I get a detector again.

It handles saltwater very well. I havent had any problems in black sand.
