Some kind of brass pull?

Found this along the RR, at least where a RR maintenance crew used to live my guess. Not super old camp at all. Like a mini RV Park with like 6 or 8 spots. Right along the RR. Some old concrete looking foundations / structures around.

It appears to be brass. Threaded hole. Going to see if it’ll fit in my tumbler once I get that going and clean it up.

Any ideas, what it was for? Thanks!

I have seen pumps that have these used as nuts to hold the pump head on where frequent disassembly is required to clean out.
