This works on Explorer/Etrac/Safari detectors and can probably be adapted to other machines...
you probably have a old bicycle in the garage with flat tires just collecting dust to take the tube from
or go grab a tube out of the dumpster at your local bike shop...cut a length, slide it on and trim to fit with a razor blade
I used a 1.95" dia. tube for a nice tight fit, gives protection against scuffs, dings...and wipes clean with a damp rag after the hunt
