RIP Judge Wapner

Yeah, his show was great!

It was educational, interesting and lacked the drama of today's silly TV shows.

I wonder how Rusty is doing?

Rusty passed away in 2002....the most famous court bailiff in history.
He had a full and interesting life.

Former minor-league baseball player

Served in the Navy during World War II.

Has three sons with Clara: Mark, Larry & Keith.

Spent 25 of his 31 years with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as a bailiff in the court system, including working in Wapner's Los Angeles Superior Court courtroom.

Appeared in numerous TV commercials and was "Colonel Morton" on packages of Morton's Frozen Foods.

Burrell had just retired in 1981 when he was asked to serve as bailiff on "The People's Court."

In 1998, Burrell returned to a TV courtroom to serve as bailiff on "Judge Wapner's Animal Court" on cable's Animal Planet network.

Memorial services were held April 19, 2002 at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, California.

Lied about his age and enlisted in the Navy at the start of World War II.

After his discharge, he played baseball for a couple of years as a pitcher and outfielder in the St. Louis Browns' farm system.

Was the bailiff for a number of high-profile trials, including those of Charles Manson, Patty Hearst and "The Onion Field" murder trial.

He was a good judge.

We need more like him.

Straight down the middle,,no waffling.

Hard for plaintiffs and defendants to BS him too.
