Default Valcano

No , we do not see the smoke or anything. It is to far to the south of us. It is called Mayon Valcano. One of the most perfect shaped volcano in the world. Now it is blowing its top. So far over 60,000 families have been evacuated from the area. KEN

They have been showing some coverage of it on the news, could be really destructive it blows the top off. Could forever change that area of the island.

Default Volcanoes in the Philippines

The Philippines is located in a area often called the ring of fire , there are 22 active volcanoes in the Philippines. There was the second largest eruption of the century in 1991 when Mount Pinatubo erupted. This one caused so much damage it destroyed much of Clark Air Force and damaged Subic Bay . Any one interested there is more on it at this link. https://pubs.usgs.gov/fs/1997/fs113-97/

From what everyone says around here, We are in no trouble from the volcano. Our dominate winds are out of the east. This time of the year it is very windy. We are not even seeing the smoke from It. KEN

Glad all that smoke is not blowing in your direction , If it throws up a lot of ash you wont have to clean it up off of everything. The pictures of what that one did to Clark Air Force Base were bad , and caused us to close it instead of trying to reopen it.

Clark Aair Base was taken over by the Philippine military. They dug it all out . The town of Olongapo was also 4 feet under ash. It took them a few years to dig everything out. It now is a very clean town and it is a beautiful place.. KEN

I have read that they are now running commercial flight out of Clark and planning on expanding even more to take some of the load off of Mania Airport.
