Hi yall, I just welcomed to the forum another Sonny from your area. I told him that I used to live in Lake Worth. It got me to thinking. I wasn't detecting back then so it never crossed my mind until now. There is a place in Lake Worth that might be worth looking into. Some of you might have already been there if so disregard. On 820 there is a bridge that crosses the lake. On the east end of the bridge you can get on the north access road and go down to the public boat ramp. The ramp is under the bridge. Right beside the boat ramp stands a huge old chimey and if I remember correctly it has a date on it like early 1900s. No other part of the structure exists but there is this weird u shaped concrete bench that sits right in front of it. I have fished right there or launched my boat there at least a hundred times and never saw anyone detecting there. I believe it is on public land too. If anyone wants to try it let me know what you find. HH

Very cool Sonny. Hopefully someone finds something cool and shares it.

Me to AK. It is pretty secluded and this time of year there hardly any poeple that go down there. And with the recent rain someone with a modern machine could pobably pull some deep silver out of there even if it has been hunted. I am gonna guess that it is pretty trashy in some spots though.

Sonny.

Never have seen that structure, but I have hunted on Lake Worth (old casino beach area) and it was TRASHY. I don't recall pulling a single coin, only trash. :(

GMG, it is not the old Lake Worth Bridge casino area. It is under the 820 6 lane highway bridge on the east side.

Lake Worth was the 1st man made lake in Texas. When it finally filled up in 1914 the activity around the lake was extremely heavy. I have been there many times and there is a book printed in 2010 titled "Lake Worth" . Lots of great pictures. Also, a lot of small time, (compared to Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans etc) "Mob" activity was happening around the lake in the 40's well into the early 60's. Several bodies dumped, Gangsters living in the cottages around the lake etc. Lake Worth is full of history.

You ever find anything good around Lake Worth (besides the lake worth monster)? I wasnt able to find much of anything. Maybe if I had an underwater detector and a scuba rig.

I did find a nice 1.25 oz sterling silver (old school) bracelet. It had three different sets on initials on it. The main set of the front and two sets on the back? Some "Three Merry Widows" tins. Not much in old coinage lately

Hi Sonny,
Just saw this post, I know exactly where you are talking about, is that on the north or south bound side.. I will try to check it out.. When you coming this way.. Maybe we could meet up in Ranger or Cisco sometimes.. Although not sure of any places in these areas.. keep in touch..

That poor casino beach has been 1000's of times.. I never did do it but know some that have.. I don't know anyone that found anything really, just clad.. I suspect ever since the first detector hit the market it has been hit hard.. There is a lot of history there, went swimming there back when I was a little kid.. I've never noticed that chimney, must not see it from the highway??

Lake Worth

I herd on the news that they were going to dredge Lake Worth. Do any of you know if that has started yet and where are they going to dump all those
goodies.

Lakes

Hey all I'm in Lake Dallas here we are on Lewisville lake. I have heard that the Corps of Engineers Don't allow MDing on any of the Lakes, also they will take your MD and fine you. I saw a post here from a guy near some Texas lake that is Really low and he was able to search some old town areas that are now and have been under water for a good while. All the boaters and fisherman drink their beers and fill the cans with the lake water and let them sink, That would have to make searching low Lakes and dredge muck ornery as hell I would think..... Good Luck and Happy Hunting.:biker::digginahole::biker:

I don't like to litter, yet there's several of my cans sunk  I am older and wiser today...I hope anyway. The penalties back then for empty container was just too still to chance it. martin

Sonny B.,
It's possible there was a casino where you describe it to be but the old Casino Beach one was on the left side of 199 going north just as you crossed over the Lake Worth bridge on 199 headed to Spring town.. If anyone finds anything there I would be very surprised.. I got my first detector in 72, never went there but know people that did.. Ever since then it has been detected.. Everything surely is gone now. Well I guess you could find recent drops but the old stuff should be depleted. I still see people detecting it when I go to Springtown ..

I expect it will be dumped on a farmers place or local land fill..

You can find some silver at and around the park at Casino Beach. The Cowtown Treasure Hunters club holds their yearly hunts there, and a few coins and rings have been missed. I hunt there occasionally, and have found a few of the coins that have been missed. And have found a few coins that I do not think were planted (these were found across the street from where the main hunt takes place). A buffalo nickel at about 5 inches, and a couple of mercs at about the same depth. Also an old bakery token at about 4 inches.

I've hunted around that old chimney, foundation and the park next to it the summer of 2110. Only found a few later dated coins and a whole lot of beer cans and tabs. You'll need to do a lot of digging trash to find anything. To many beer partys over the years.
