Went detecting today with Nate’s metal detecting from on here on another forum. . We had a decent day. I found a carved bullet and several pieces of carved bullets within a few yards. The carved billet is on top left and then I have a picture from the top of it. You can see what looks like lines and a star Also found a 1902 v nickel on another part of the field and a 1941 wheat. There used to be a old homesite on this farm. But several hundred yards from where we were detecting today. Also found a what’s it. The three ringer in smashed a little on the bottom. Found a buckle also. This field is just one property over from where I found the gold coin last year.not sure what the bottom picture is.

Question. Why did they carve bullets?

Like VA-REb said they had a lot of time to kill and a lot of them had a talent for carving. I have found around 5 carved bullets but none of them are spectacular. Carved bullets are one of my favorite bullets to find.

Maybe start a thread on carved bullets. I have a couple carved into acorns.

That’s a good idea. I would have to find all mine. Most aren’t that good that I have. I would love to see everyone else’s though.
