I dug this coin at our old family farm. I have included a approximate drawing of the coin. Any idea of a value for the coin in say VF condition? Was this coin ever used in the U.S.? Where is coin from?

Not included in the drawing is the lion in the crest holding what appears to be a axe.

I also dug a 1890 and a 1901 IH, a 1909 and 1912 wheat.

Could you have made a mistake and its a Skilling not a shilling ?
If so it could be from Norway which used a lion holding an axe on some of its coins (lion faces left) though Norway was ruled by Sweden at the time.
Interesting find. I've not seen one thats been detected before.

I think Brian got it. Norwegian 1/2 skilling. Here's a pic
Value in VF isn't much, couple dollars or so.
