New to the hobby. Living in BC, Canada.
I recently picked up a Mojave, Garrett Carrot and a hori-hori, and have been out twice so far. Really enjoying it.

I'll post some pictures of my first two hunts in another thread.

Cheers!

Thanks all. Just noticed this thread had expanded quite a bit.

GR, Welcome to the forum! Just south of you, where in BC?

I'm in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area. Whereabouts are you?
Welcome from the Florida Treasure coast.

What's a hori-hori ?

It's a Japanese gardening/transplanting knife, like this: http://www.actionquarterly.com/imag...jp650-725-blade-hori-hori-stainless-steel.jpg

The one I have seems to work really well so far. Cuts good plugs.

Welcome from Oregon! I borrowed my buddy's hori last week and LOVED it! Wish it had a bigger vanguard! That bad boy is sharp!

Thanks. Yeah, I sort of wish mine had a slightly bigger guard on it too, but I haven't had any incidents. Seems to me like it's probably the best hand tool out there for cutting clean holes, short of moving up to an actual spade.
