Jefferson Nickels - Do You Keep Them?

I check my dug nickels for the war nickel mint mark. If they're not a War nickel, they are just nickels; low value clad. I had a nice, deep struck '38 in my change a couple weeks ago. Genuine, aged, dark patina too! I showed it to a check-out lady when I spent it. I think she kept it. Wheat pennies are worth a few times face; sometimes more for key/semi-key dates & marks.

Now I'm starting to feel normal!:D
Maybe you are! The metal percent of face value of the 1946-2014 Jefferson nickel is 85%, not bad. The only “clad” coin that beats it is the 1909-1982 copper Lincoln cent, at 196%. None of the other modern coins even come close. Of course, one cannot legally melt either of these two coins here in the states.
