Hi Guys,
Just had to post this.
I am working an area where I have found several flat buttons, a 1797 Draped Bust LC and a set of cufflinks - estimated dates from the 1700-1800 time frame.
All the easy targets seem to have been found - so far. I was messing around in the area and decided this time not to notch iron out. After a while I hit a fairly light iron signal. Dug the plug and pulled out some type of buckle.
About 8" from that I got a hard iron hit - dug the plug and searched around and found the item. Started to pull it out and at first thought it was a knife. When I got the whole item out I couldn't believe my eyes - it was a flintlocks lock!!!! YEEHAW!!!!!!!
It was about 8" in the ground - it was rather crusty, but being a flintlock hunter I knew exactly what it was!!
This area has been a super honey hole so far - I hope it keeps on giving!!!
GL and HH all !!!!
sorry cleaned up picture of lock is bad - hard to get a good image on the scanner
coin is soaking in olive oil - will post better pictures of these 2 when cleaned up better
