Hey folks, it's been quite a while, the heat and humidity has been absolutely brutal this year. It has limited my hunting time drastically compared to what I have done in years past. That and some other things have gotten in the way of me digging this season. Anyway I did get out for a few hunts this summer so far, some were bottle digging with my buddy. I have metal detected very few times this summer, so that's why you all haven't heard much from me. I got out for a hunt yesterday at one of my hammered 1920's parks. I call this place iron park. The iron in the ground is really tough here. It's brings my auto sensitivity down real low. So I have to swing slow and low. Anyway I was shocked to see that I somehow missed a beautiful and nicely toned 1917 Type 1 SLQ. I found this out towards the front of the park, where I have hammered over the years, along with other people. The only thing I can think of is the iron had something to do with this signal being missed, either that or I hit it at the right angle. I also dug a 1943 S Merc, a 1943 S War Nickel, a 1918 holed Canadian Large Cent, and 6 wheat pennies. This summer has been very hot and humid so far, I am hoping we get a few breaks here and there towards the later half of summer, but I doubt it the way it has been going, so you probably won't hear much from me until fall, but anyway thanks for looking and HH Everyone! :)

Congrats Ron on a very fine outing. That is a very fine looking Stander, have not seen a lot of type ones come out of the ground with a readable date. Hope the weather breaks for you soon so it allows you to hunt. Trapper
