I found this today, it was about 8" deep at a old house site. I have no idea if it's civil war or what

looks like a Sharps Carbine.

It is a Wilkinson pattern for 50 cal rifle C.S.A.

see McKee & Mason Civil War Projectiles.
pp28 illustration.; pp29 # 105 specs.

flat solid base, two ring .497 diam; .939 length.

nothing else is even close.
