lead find...need help.

Yesterday I went out to my cousins farm near culleoka TN...found a big piece of lead that is flat on one side and cuped on the other. Looks to have been melted in some kind of pot. Her house was built in 1905 but the original cabin was built during the civil war and the only thing still standing from that cabin is the lime stone chimney. Pics will not upload but maybe someone here has some of one they have found.

many people melted lead into whatever container was handy and it was used for everything from roofs to bullets to plumbing

All you need is a cast iron pot, and a kitchen stove to melt lead. Lots of people cast fishing weights and bullets for reloading their brass. That lead piece was probably what was left in the pot. I have several sitting around, I cast figurines...
