ACE 250 with Garrett EasyStow HP's (and added a DD coil with my finds), Harbor Freight PP, WalMart FISKARS digger, Army Surplus store folding Shovel, 2 scoop deal from Colonial Metal Detectors. About $350 not including the DD coil - I bought it with "found money". If you don't beach hunt, drop the 2 scoop deal and knock $50 off.

Welcome aboard from NW Florida and Happy Hunting!

Get a clean used $700 detector off the classifieds here or your local Craigslist. It is common to find people that buy detectors, use them a couple of times and stuff them into a closet for years before selling them off. The built-in protection is if your don't like it you can normally sell it without losing your butt like a new detector. The downside is you have no recourse for warranty problems. Personally I have never been burned by a used detector purchase.

I would get an F2, garrett pro pointer and lesche digger. Total would be $370. Maybe use the extra funds for a nice finds pouch.
