There are two metal detecting clubs that meet near you - the East Texas Treasure Hunters Association, which meets in Longview at the American Legion hall on the second Monday of every month, and the Rusk County Treasure Hunters Association which meets in Henderson on the second Tuesday of every month. They are both great clubs, lots of fine folks, and they love helping out newcomers to the hobby. Check out their websites and facebook (I know they both have websites, and think they have facebook pages). BTW - I thank you for informing me about Edwardsville. I thought Peatown and Elderville were the same place and never saw Edwardsville referred to except on the old Peatown Church historical marker, and I thought they were just mistakenly referring to Elderville. Didn't know Haden Edwards was the 'father' of both Fredonia and Edwardsville!
