I'm getting up to speed on my new Etrac and am wondering about the volume setting. I've got stock headphones and have been running the volume gain at 29 (almost max) thinking this would allow for better response to weak signals, but it's killing my ears, especially when pinpointing. Where do you Etrac users typically set your volume gain? Would it be better to get headphones with volume control to run up the gain on the machine but drop the volume at the headphones or is this just going to cancel out the increased gain?

Controls on the phones would be ideal, but if the E-trac is like the Explorer you can max the gain and lower the volume a little. I personally prefer quality headphones and back them off a little.
