I was going through the scrap pile and saw that there was a design on the front. After much cleaning I was finally able to orientate it the right direction and figured out it was a man in a dress coat/tuxedo. It feels fairly heavy. I’m not sure if it is heavy aluminum cast or light lead. Any thoughts?

Its probably tin/pewter or lead.

If its lead or pewter white metal, then it is not a printing plate. That would be to soft of a metal.
What you have there is a lead toy stamp to make paper dolls.
I found one before and researched it. They were a popular toy. Mine was 5 inches&had writing punched into the back with a nail. It had a name and something about being won at the fair on the back.

I found something very similar today. When I got home I get on the forum and this thread and post is up. Thanks for the ID Hannibal. The one I found looks like an Egyptian, i was thinking printing plate but it is soft and I found it at some old fairgrounds. I love this forum!
Any Idea of when these were a popular toy?

Thanks for the info.

Congrats on a cool find Squeaker!

Thank you much!

As far as age...I would think around 1920’s. Especially if your stamp has an Egyptian. Everyone’s became interested/obsessed with Egyptian stuff after Howard Carter opened up King Tut’s tomb.

I could be off too, but that’s my guess.
