We had an amazing day at the old farmhouse in Missouri. We found some amazing pieces of history! I personally dug a quarter cut reale pistareen and I was lucky enough to get the date side it is 1723, my oldest coin by 118 years!! What is that thing doing in Missouri???? I was very pleasantly surprised. Zach dug a one bit to an 8 reale. It is a Charles III version so it is most definitely 1700s! He has the piece that would have the last digit of the date but we cannot tell what date it is. He also dug a really cool flat button, the only one of the 19 we dug to have a proprietary back mark, and it was produced from 1828 to 1834! Kyle killed it and found a semi key date buffalo nickel as well as a shield nickel and some minie balls and he found nine flat buttons!

Not sure yours is a reale, might be a pistareen but im no expert and it's still on my bucket list. A few have come up around here, but not found by me. What a great permission, post, and finds, congrats!
EDIT: just reread your post, and looks like your already knew it might be a Pistareen. Awesome digs!

Holy smokes! How do you spell success? These guys, period. Great job both y'all.

What a fantastic outing by you guys. Looks like all shared in the wealth. Spanish Silver, Indians, Shield Nickel, tons of old buttons, No doubt a dream outing Garrett. Congrats to all on one super day. Trapper

Those cut-fractions of reales are just sick. Sick sick sick. I hate the gilt buttons too !

And this came from Missouri! Nowhere near the east coast....

Yes. And this is what's making it confusing. Because Missouri is west of the Mississippi ? What's going on ? Are we going to have to add Missouri to the list of east coast liars ?? :sissyfight:

Once in a blue moon, a cut-reale shows up on the west coast. Those are so cool I'd almost rather find a cut reale than a whole reale !

Wow. Seen a few cut Spanish come out of the Kentucky/Tennessee area but Missouri is a first. They do look quite worn so likely dropped in the early 1800s though not even sure if cut silver was legal tender then. Guess so in the “frontier” areas
