My first Hawaiian coin very rare 1847..

Holy toledo! Well you have that on the beach forum, so are we to assume this was a beach find ? If so it doesn't look like it was ever in salt water. So must be a dry sand find ? Or .... ? Do tell a bit more about the type site!

I found it on the path to the beach...Dry sand..

In my opinion that is better than gold! That is a real nice coin. such detail! I'm impressed :)

Wow that is very very cool! as already mentioned, a rare coin in such great condition is not your everyday find!

Is it me, or am I reading that even in less than good condition, that can be over $1,000?????? Holy cow, great find!

Ah, you lucky son of a gun ! So it was more like a "land" find then. Albeit "next" to the beach. So it had always remained high and dry above the water-line, hence protecting it from salt-water kisses. Great! And perhaps the "path" effect (hard-pan soil?) kept it from being too deep, etc.... Congratz!
