The number of stars seems to be different. More stars in the dug item.

The last pics look like the remnants of a bronze coin, similar to a 2 cent piece, just smaller.

It looks like a trime to me. If you have no joy with electrolysis, see if your local pawn shop will acid test for silver, it's condition is already shot,IMO.
