My father-in-law knows that I enjoy metal detecting and finding old coins so he gifted to me a 1925 Lexington-Concord Sesquicentennial half dollar. It is in a paper coin holder with the markings EE on it -- I'm not sure if this is some sort of rating or not. Scribbled out it seems that the coin was sold for $45, but that could have been decades ago. Anyone know the value?

That's a beautiful coin there!!! I've had my eye out for a Stone Mountain half for awhile but ain't found one yet....

The "BU" written on it means Brilliant Un-Circulated.

I would grade that in the MS grades... close to a MS62 to 64.
In that range you are looking at a high value of 139.99 (grade MS-63) to a low of $65.00, this going off of Ebay completed sales, which is the true marker for what a coin is worth.

It could well be worth getting it graded.
