Keep flies away

I've checked sites such as "Snopes", and "Urban Myth".

The jury still seems to be out as to whether this works or not. :?:

Yes, the water-and-pennies-in-a-baggie trick really does work. I tried it myself last summer on my back porch. I felt rather foolish hanging the thing up, as I am quite skeptical, but to my amazement, the flies stay away from the area!!! Just take a regular zip-lock type sandwich bag, fill it about half full of water, add 4 or 5 pennies and zip it closed. I used a clothes pin to attach the bag to my lattice fence work.

I have observed that as soon as the sun sets fairly low, but before it is actually dark, the flies come back around the bag, but during daylight and early evening, they stay away. This leads me to believe that there might be some truth in the light refraction theory. I don't know how or why it works, but I hung another one up this year and love it.
