Don't know how many of you visit Detroit for vacations but if you do there are a couple of way impressive places that should not be missed.
Greenfield Villiage is cool, the complete restoration and 99% faithful construction of Edisons's Menlo Park laboratory on site is thrilling.
Lots of work went into this project, more than most would have attempted to try.

Why only 99% correct?
When Ford had Edison visit to make sure it was done right he was the one that came up with that number.
"Why only 99%, Ford asked.
"It was never this clean!" Mr. Edison told him.

The Rouge plant tour is also very interesting among other places but above all the Henry Ford museum is a jaw dropping eye opening wonder.

Not just about cars at all, so much more than that regarding manufacturing, innovation, some important history here in America pertaining to historical events, many history changing products and works of art.
Still, from my visits there with my grandparents so many decades ago it is the cars, boats and other vehicles that still stick in my mind.
Standing in front of them is a way different experience than just looking at pics.

The link on top is a few of the more special ones.

You knew I'd be all over this! :D

As a matter of fact, my folks invested money in Tucker. There's waaaayyy more to that story than they wrote in that little blurb. Serious treachery is what kept that car from changing the whole face of American automobiles.

I have a client that's into the old classics, and she was just there at the village the end of September for their annual antique car show with her Speedster. I peeled back it's sheet and grabbed a couple pics of it when it came home.

Her hubby's car was still on the trailer.

Sweet little red barchetta!

My great-great grandfather's steam thresher was at the village during my family reunion there about 15 years ago. Love that place! Museum has some excellent classics.

That second picture is the 1963 Chrysler Turbine car. Nearly all of them were destroyed after much 1963 publicity in the media and films. I have an old model kit of it, still unbuilt.
