Newer to the 3030

Yea I brain farted on the obvious one, separates faster.....lol
The proof is in the pudding, people have great results in combined mode...

And Tn you say I should get most wheats if I start conductive at like 40?

Or start at like 38 and if I get to many zincs go to 40?

Yep,,,usually wheats will come in at. 42,,clad dimes 43,, silver dimes 45,,,so allow a little gap,,40 is good. You shouldn't dig any zincolns,,screw tops.
You will dig purex lids,, zinc jar lids,,some of the tubes used for things like glue,,some smaller older lids to smaller containers. Really worn dimes can come it at 40.

Bottom line is this,,,and I don't classify myself as a "pro detectorist".
You start finding seated coins in a site,,you better watch out and not be to picky with your dig no dig decisions based on TID. Some more rare finds may exist,,that ID somewhat differently than what folks are accustomed to digging.

A site like that, basically notch out iron then dig ANYTHING repeatable.

You could,,,but even just relaxing your what you consider normal dig targets ID wise.
Like dig everything ringing up in the 30s conductive.

If the site say where you find a seated dime or 2,,, if not much or any modern trash,,,,I would definitely be digging more,,,,depth meter on CTX is pretty good.

You could use it too to gauge a dig no dig decision.

Pay attention to any patterns you notice on what coins you do dig in a site.
How deep are they running generally.

Also,,depending,,,you can always go back,,maybe.
And open your window TID wise for digging.

When you make some good to best finds in a site,,,start using your imagination,,,think,,think,,think.

I've been reading/ and watching this thread all night.
great information here guys.

Reading the "ANDY" book , watching u-tube videos and reading other
CTX threads for the last two months.

Maybe I'm trying to cram for an examine, and then to take the knowledge into the field..... still I feel puzzled.

trying to understand this R2 D2 language.
The 30/30 has a wide range of capabilities, I guess like the book says,
"Learn to walk before ya run"

Today was my second time out swinging "CHARLIE"
I found all clad $1.14 4qtrs 4 zincs 1 dime
1 Hotwheel plenty of can slaw and 3 or 4 bottle caps and a few deep nails

I'm staring to see a better picture using the target trace .....
do you run target trace all the time or just switch to it once in awhile?

I don't use target trace on clean hits. Now if I get all the clean hits (higher conducive coins and nickel signals),,out of a sight,,,,what's left, then I might try to use target trace.

Like a clean 12-45 in the window,,small pinpoint,,,no target trace needed on that one.

Can slaw,,since you are new to your detector,,maybe a good reason to dig,,,but with proper interpretation of TID numbers on screen,,,not much can slaw should be dug. Maybe some bigger,,but definitely not smaller.
But,,digging can slaw signals can produce gold,, 3 cent pieces made of nickel.

The advice I give to new etrac and CTX users.
Get a piece of foil,,small gold ring,,a nickel,,shotgun shell hull, screw cap,,zincoln, copper penny, IH penny dime, quarter, half , silver dollar.

Sweep these and note where they come in on screen,,and note associate tone provided.

Then learn to decipher iron falses,,,this has to be done in the field on undisturbed target(iron).
When a person learns to decipher iron falses,,,,all down hill from there.
When sweeping targets with shady tone(s),,trying to mimmick iron falses,,,
Cursor position is key,,and how it responds when coil is passed over target. This movement can vary depending on "masking" taking place.
