Was detecting in NJ this weekend visiting in-laws and decided to hit a local elementary school, found a bunch of clad quarters and then BAM! I see what appears to be gold impacted in hard mud and the upon closer inspection it was a small 22k gold cross! I was swinging in 3 KHz and my coil didn't even read it, but my eyes did!
Also found a crusty 1873 Indian, and after running it in hot water for about 1/2 hour the crust broke apart and a nice green patina came through, all in all, a nice weekend!
