Found my first gold ring today...:D along with some clad and tons of trash.... Using my jewelers loupe it appears to say 16K VG. you can barely see the tail on the 16, but looking at the pictures it looks more like 10K VG. Still out of town and don't really have the resources to give it a good cleaning. Apparently, 16K jewelry isn't really produced much no-a-days, but was at some point. The site I was hunting was and older house built mid 60's or shortly before. Oldest coin I found was a 65' Washington quarter....No silver. Pennies and dimes found were early 70's-early 80's....

If anyone could shed some light, I would be very appreciative. Thanks for any help....

Looks like 10k to me but it is hard to tell without a good closeup photo.

Oldest coin dug- 1927 wheatie.

I think Gauntlet is right. Vermeil Gold is thick layered/plated over sterling silver. Better quality than other gold plated silvers. It's either that, or a makers mark. Worth getting checked out. Nice looking chunky ring there!
