What's a fair price or common silver coins? My Girlfriends grandmother just died, her grandfather never knew she had a coin collection, but she did. There's Morgans, Peace Dollars, Franklins, Washingtons, Rosies, some Barbers, 1883 Exposition half, Kennedy's, etc. Some are key dates like an 1880 CC Morgan, but for the average non key date coin what's a fair price for dimes, quarters, half's, dollars, etc. I will also be posting most of it for sale, if anyone's interested. There is also several proof sets including 2 99' and 2 2002 silver ones. and many uncirculated state quarters, also a bag or two of the first 36 still sealed. Plus a ton of paper money.

Right now melt is 10.48 X face value for common date, dollars which contain more silver is at $11.28.
About as good of a deal as I could find lately is around 12 x face.
For Morgans and Peace dollars (unless they are slicks) you should be able to get around $16 for common dates au and below condition and up a few bucks for original and nicer ones.

Thanks dirt.

Where and when do you think you may post for sale? If price is right I may be interested in some of it.

I'll post it here once I get a full inventory. I'd like to sell larger lots of it as I don't feel like shipping to dozens of addresses. He was going to take it to a local coin shop but he feels like they ripped him off on the last batch he took there (I have no idea what coins were in that group).

What's a good price for a nice 1880 cc Morgan? I see that they start around $150, I'll have to get better pics of this one, you can see it alone in a small plastic bag in the one photo. I've always wanted to own a cc coin but I think I'll wait to find one, I'd rather put the money out on a coil right now rather than a coin. Like I said I'll make up lots of the coins by make and sell them that way once I get things straightened out. They will be posted on the forum here first. He's not trying to make money off them, but I do want to get him fair prices.

Theres a website called " Silver Coin Melt Value " . You can type in the number of coins you have and it will give you the value for those coins at that times silver melt value . Good luck .

Thanks everyone. I'll post what's for sale next time I'm over there.

some of those coins are going to be worth more then silver.
Any coin in good shape is always worth more then melt.
You would do yourself a favor by looking up sold prices on ebay for coins in similar condition as yours.

The Hawaii note you have is worth well more then 1$
the 1800's note you have is worth more then a dollar.
the dollars in good condition could be worth much more then melt.
the 2$ bills are spenders.. Unless they hail from the 30's.

Basically find a coin collector you trust and let them go through it.

Take them to a reputable coin shop to look over the dates and let you know if you have a more scarce date to some of the coins like that 1880 CC. I wouldn't recommend selling to the coin shop however, as you will be able to get more on your own.

And speaking of the 1880 cc, post high res, well lit pictures of both front and back and myself and others will give you a good idea of condition and price.
