Help Identifying this buckle

This was found in the same area as a 1743 2 reale and an 1806 half dollar. The image shows what appears to be a palm tree with a curved fish underneath. The large diameter is about the size of a silver dollar and the tongue piece is between a quarter and half dollar. Thanks for your help.

Never seen anything like it, cold be sort of modern or quite old. The curved fish reminds me of a cresent moon and with the palm reminds me of something South Carolina, but never seen a design like that before. :shrug:

That looks like a civil war buckel. I dont know what state but i know its confederate. You may have a good one there.

There's a similar buckle w/o the fish on T-Net. His has been ID'd as a South Carolina Militia buckle.

Well it is not SC Civil War buckle. It can be any of the southern maritime states. Well minus La because the majority of their had the Pelican on it. Could very well be a Miss buckle for their Naval Force, or it is some regional buckle for someone who fished for a living. But since it is not Wreathed on the ring that may very well be what it is. Considering how large fishing has been in the Gulf Coast areas that is a possibility, all I know it it is not a SC buckle.

We know this type (other signs of course) as scouting beltbuckle. Late 19th to 20th century.
