I couple of months ago I got lucky and found a late 1700s early 1800s home site that had been lost to time. There was some very cool things at this site. It is my best site so far. I decided to make a display for all of them. It’s not done i need to change the one kg3 to a kg2 I discovered I mistakenly Id wrong. I am going to frame it in wood with a glass face so I can hang it on the wall. Since I started making this display I returned to the site and found two more large cents and several buttons. I’m not going to put them in the display.

I blacked out the location of the site in the pic.

I recently found a 1800 Kentucky long rifle and I’m planing on making a display for that also. I’ll post it when I’m done.

Well done!! Truly an excellent way to showcase your own keepers, but also a great method for presenting finds to the property owner when desired. I’ll definitely try something similar - I just have to go find a site that produces so well as that!!

Thanks for sharing!

Let's get some more detail shots and info about the construction! I really like the idea of custom printing the mat.

I will take some more pic soon. I’m a sign maker by trade. So I do this kind of thing all the time. The print is printed vinyl like the warps that you see on vehicles. If you have a paper printer you can do the same thing. Print on large paper than get some spray glue. Lightly spray your backer (you can use plywood) and lay your print on it. Than you can use a router with a strait bit to pocket out the different sizes of your finds. The hard part was the layout finding good pic of the un dug examples. I’ll send some more pic soon. Hope this helps!

Here’s some more close up pics.
This was a dream site for me. Almost no modern trash. Witch let me dig every signal above iron.

Very cool. The close ups helped me understand that you have undug example photos.

It would be interesting to fasten/glue plexi to the back instead of a traditional frame so that a person could look at both sides of the objects.

I'm putting together a display case for one of my permissions but hadn't settled on a design. This is pretty interesting.

Do the items move in their compartments, or are they fastened somehow?

They fit pretty tight but I plan on putting glass in a wood frame. I’m going to make the frame easy to remove so I can pop out the finds to hand them to who ever is looking at it.

The plexiglass back is interesting. I’ve been having a hard time finding the time to work on my find displays. I need to keep swinging!

Yes, the double sided glass is a great idea...You would have to make a frame with one side that hinges open, and with internal grooves to slide the glass "sandwich" into....You would end up with a picture frame like display that could be viewed from either side...

If people want to make the interior "holder" from wood, be careful as the fumes from any residual sap can stain certain artifacts particularly silver...I believe certain types of pvc can also cause issues for silver as well....
