went back to the area were i found the trigger guard and found this cylinder about 50 yards from the spot i found the trigger guard,also found this horse bit (i think) about 10 feet away

Don't know about the barrel but the trigger guard looks like one I found off of a 1861 colt navy revolver..
Cool find whatever its from... Congrats
 
Black powder gun

How did you know it was a black powder gun? Looking at the pics again...is that a percussion nipple at the back of each cylinder?
 
Congrats on the pistol! I found a trigger guard just like yours a couple of months ago, but can't read the whole serial number. You should contact Colt and find out if they can give you some history on the gun.
 
showed a local historian he says its a 36 cal. colt navy

Can you clarify what the serial number is? On my screen, I make it out as 287367. If that is correct, it is definitely not an 1851 Navy, but I might be able to help you figure out what it was and when it was made.
